Kenosha, WI’s own Leroy Booker’s new track “HILLS IN PHOENIX” is a quintessential hip-hop/RnB crossover. The lyrics compare Booker’s infatuation with a lover to the gorgeous yet often desolate and dry desert in the south. While the vocals float over the ambient production, the sound is grounded by a masterfully utilized drumkit. The overall feel of this contrasts well against the gritty and honest edge of the second verse, in which a more rap-forward approach is taken.
