New York-based artists and roommates Subway Rat and Danny L’Amour have released a collaborative single, “Sunglasses,” which combines ’00s indie-rock nostalgia with escalating pop whimsy. The dynamic vocal performances of Subway Rat and L’Amour add to the climactic hold of the track. Subway Rat, the project of David Polanco, recently impressed with the album Captain of the Football Team, and this single with Danny L’Amour continues their quick ascent. The track features stutter-y guitars and synth flourishes that quickly excel into Polanco’s contagious vocal tone, reminiscent of Future Islands.
