Singer/songwriter Jorge Vallentine dropped off a present on Christmas, but the song has a resonance throughout the year. “Lifelines” is a personal song about enduring the dark times in life, and using that to motivate you to keep going. There’s a faith element here as well, but the general concept of light emerging from the darkness is one that just about anyone going through a rough patch can relate with regardless of religious affiliation. Vallentine’s guitar is played with passion, and his vocals are delivered like a broken man looking for his place. Fortunately, it sounds like he’s found it, and “Lifelines” is a testament to that.
