Low Res is the electro-jazz project of composer Daniel Zelonky. His latest release comprises two pieces written as theme songs for imaginary films. Backed by his rotating cast of musicians Suite Crude Revue, Low Res enlists vocalist Gervis Myles to smoothly deliver the narratives of both songs. “Cowpoke Detox” is described as “spaghetti jazz” and entails a murderer whose crimes catch up to him; “Blue Ramen #1” is “Hollywood samba” – a breezy lovelorn tale. Musicians credited are Andy Spadafora, Cecilio Negron Jr, Jay Anderson, Eric Jacobsen, John Paul Simons, Bryan Rogers, Allen Russel and Dave Schoepke.
