Pop rock act Rye Catchers, led by songwriter David McClintick Roberts, released a new album a few months back. The ten-song record comprises a balanced mix of originals and covers, as the title suggests. With an edge bridging classic hard rock and power pop energy, Rye Catchers’ “Covers and Concepts” harkens to 80s power anthem sensibility with the group’s own transcendent razzle-dazzle display. Nikki Simmons takes vocal lead on most songs, bringing enough radiance to fill an arena. The covers here are from RATT, Double, Cole Porter and Milwaukee’s own Paul Kneevers.
