AUDIO: Blacktop – “Gardening is a Practice, Not an Idea”

Blacktop released a new album on the 1st of the month. Titled from a Thich Nhat Hanh quote, this record contains the profound theme of not simply growth – but making growth sustainable. It’s nine songs that build upon Blacktop’s signature breezy, beach-soaked pop style with expanded emphasis upon textures and samples to fully conjure a paradisical atmosphere. His delicate lyrics here touch on topics such as FOMO, insecurity, pressure and having a person to lean on. Over the years, Blacktop has polished his creative approach of creating a vividly tranquil, relaxing sonic environment often lyrically contrasted by motifs of fear and self-consciousness, and “Gardening is a Practice, Not an Idea” is another brilliant installment of such.
