At the intersection of jazz and funk, the Kal Bergendahl Project thrives, and you can hear that on their latest release, “Parallels Chapter IV.” Seven tracks make up the release, each with a smooth, natural feel to it. When it’s time to shine, each member of the sextet can take over a track, with tight horns and big bass lines particularly standing out here. The spirit of funk is alive in this collection of songs, but the precision of well executed jazz also puts gives the band an especially tight feel. Check out “Parallels Chapter IV” below:
