CJ Folds dropped a new EP last month. It’s three songs from the rapper-singer themed around heartbreak and its residual pains. Opening with a monologue intro by Guillaume that touches on such matters, the next two tracks find CJ Folds craving the company of whom he’s lost as he fears abandonment and loneliness. Emotionally charged production and hauntingly sorrowful vocal performances enable CJ Folds to pack a potent punch with “A Midnight Love Story” – it’s a testament to how fiercely and unabashedly vulnerable he’s capable of being when he’s at the mic.
