Milwaukee Rapper DC The Don Secures Spot in XXL Magazine’s 2023 Freshman Class
Milwaukee rapper DC The Don was named the No. 10 Spot winner in XXL Magazine’s 2023 Freshman Class, joining a generation of up-and-coming premiere rappers from across the U.S.
XXL releases its “Freshman Class” list each year, showing off underrated rappers and rising stars. This year’s edition included DC, Luh Tyler, Glorilla, Lola Brooke, Central Cee, Finesse2Tymes, Rob49, Fridayy, 2Rare, SleazyWorldGo, TiaCorine and Real Boston Richey.
“I put everything I have into this,” DC said in XXL’s video. Becoming a Freshman was “always a dream of mine,” he added.
In May DC dropped his latest album “Funeral” through Rostrum Records. As previously reported by Breaking and Entering, the 16 songs show off DC’s versatility and were signs of his confidence in bigger things on the way. He’s been known to mingle with genres like pop, pop punk and drum and bass in his previous singles.
DC performed on Friday at Summer Smash in Chicago with fellow freshman Glorilla. Luh Tyler played on Saturday and Central Cee will spit on stage on Sunday. The festival is headlined by Kid Cudi, Future and Playboi Carti.
