AUDIO: Saskia And Chandra – “Together In Love And Separation”

With the release of their latest album, “Together In Love And Separation”, Saskia Griffiths-Moore & Chandra Chakraborty have established themselves as industry leaders. The greatest of Indian classical history and the sounds that have developed from the Western folk scene in recent years are both featured on the new 8-track compilation that is out now.

“She Moved Through The Fair” is the first track on the album, and it is a shimmering introduction to an album full of beauty. The vocal performance by Chandra pulls us in right away, and the one-of-a-kind textures she offers harmoniously integrates with the beautiful background. It is calming from the very first second, and this sense of peace and tranquilly is maintained for the remainder of the composition.

On track two, the Bangla classic “Bhromor Koio Giya” takes us even further into the universe of both performers. The ancient sounds of India surge to the surface with fervour, and this gives way, in grand fashion, to the western classic known as “Country Roads.” Both Saskia and Chandra lend their unique charm to the works that are already well-known, and in doing so, they bring these works to life in a way that no one has ever seen before.

As Saskia performs the track “Scarborough Fair,” which is a fan favourite from the album, we find ourselves clinging to our seats in anticipation. It is breathtaking in every sense of the word, and it demonstrates that when they work together, these women are unstoppable.
