Metal band Outlanders recently put out an album, and they’re getting all sorts of heavy on “Ritual Observance.” The 10-track album combines eras of heavy rock in some ways, with elements of power metal, thrash, and screamo all showing their influence on the record. Nothing is off limits, as occasional synths and digital elements accent the band’s power in a way that gives everything a more epic feel. It’s rare that a band can incorporate as much as Outlanders do in a single record and make it all fit together rather seamlessly. They accomplish that, though, pushing their boundaries in the process.
