AUDIO: So Zuppy – “Blindly, Pt. 1”

Lo-fi pop artist So Zuppy has a new EP out, featuring the last two singles (“Plea” and “Ordinary”) he’s dropped in addition to three more tracks. Micah Foust states that he was creatively inspired by quilts of American folk art that he’d found in an online database. Each quilt represented a collage of feelings and stories that felt comforting even in their complexities. In “Bye” he doesn’t blame a lover for wanting to leave him; in “Red Ink” he imagines that same lover writing calligraphy on his skin; in “Walk Away” he laments them for leaving him so easily. It’s a gallery of heartbreak; So Zuppy puts a unique spin on these lovelorn songs with whimsical production and gently-laden vocals. We’re looking forward to part two.
