AUDIO: Mr.Lloyd – “The Vision”

When the shrill violins of Mr.Lloyd’s “The Vision” are the first thing you hear, you expect a very different record than most hip hop projects. That seems to be the case throughout the ten track release, which invokes some experimental elements to it, albeit in small doses. There are screwed vocals, high synth lines, and obscure sounding beats that don’t necessarily conform to trap norms. Lyrically, there’s a personal story of struggle and an effort to escape it, with a flow that feels a little left of center as well. There’s no faking the funk here, as Mr.Lloyd is clearly grinding to make something better for himself and the people around him, and “The Vision” encapsulates that. Check out the album below:
