In the tracks leading up to his latest EP, “Folklorde,” Lorde Fredd33 had been pushing the boundaries of music that could be conceived as hip hop, invoking chanting and other abstract elements to his singles. The EP is out now, and proves that those experimental elements are only part of his game, and that he hasn’t abandoned rapping altogether. There are melodic components, in tracks like opener “4Scott,” as well as the more abstract pieces represented in the singles that make the EP. If there’s one constant throughout the project, though, it’s the desire to create something purely unique and different. Check out the EP below:
