AUDIO: Eric Ash – “At A Wall”

Eric Ash, who plays violin and cello in chamber folk band Social Caterpillar, is out with a new solo tune. He’s still playing those instruments here but with quite a different tone – there’s an electronic rhythm pulsing under his vocals and as the strings soar, giving it an oceanic soundscape (hence the cover art). He sings about “throwing love even if it’s at a wall” and “everyone else makes it look so easy to not care at all” which translate roughly to doing the right thing even when others won’t. It speaks volumes to our current times; many can turn a blind eye to oppression and injustice when they aren’t the ones being affected. However, that won’t stop those with big hearts from treating the world with empathy and compassion. Eric Ash speaks a beautiful message here in an elegant fashion.
