AUDIO: Wylie Jakobs – “Unmarked Graves”

After four years in the making Wylie Jakobs is out with his debut solo record. It’s acoustic outlaw country-folk with a “sitting in the room with me” vibe, as Jakobs put it. The tracks gallop and wail in a poignant way, suggesting that Jakobs is channeling tons of raw, cathartic emotion behind him through song. He addresses subjects such as regret, heartbreak, and death. It feels like we’re sitting in a circle around a fire as Jakobs sings and strums his guitar, and we all gaze into the night sky reflecting on our sorrows. He says quarantine ultimately inspired him to finish the record and we are happy he chose to. Wylie Jakobs is Jake Hess, guitarist of thrash metal band Ahab’s Ghost.
