R&B, especially at the local level, is making a resurgence as of late, and projects like the new album from Troy Tyler, “Violet”, demonstrate why that’s the case. After an album and a string of singles, Tyler’s sophomore release shows the immense potential that he has as an artist and performer. With 15 songs in total, “Violet” is a true showcase of Tyler’s range, from smooth tracks that leave subtlety in the dust like “Ride It!” to the more empowering “Miss Me”, the album shows that he can play to both ends of the spectrum and sell it with conviction.
