Backline MKE Announces Initial Grant Recipients
Backline MKE, the organization created by 88Nine Radio Milwaukee and startup accelerator gener8or with the intention of building up Milwaukee’s music scene, has announced the first four participants in their 12-week accelerator program and recipients of $20,000 grants. Lex Allen, Abby Jeanne, Zed Kenzo, and Crystal Knives are all the first participants revealed at Cactus Club on Friday in what looks to become a bi-annual program going forward.
Over 340 acts submitted to be involved in the program, and the final recipients were chosen by music industry professionals. A 12-week program for the acts will follow, culminating in a free showcase at the Radio Milwaukee studios on November 16th.
In addition to the grants and accelerator program, a Backline workshop on music production will be held on Saturday at Noon at 88Nine, featuring Bizness Boi, and songwriter Rush Davis. It is free to attend, and you can register here.
