INTERVIEW: Mickey Factz
With over ten years in the hip hop game, Mickey Factz has made his name well known with a slew of mixtapes and albums, as well as his live show. That live show comes to Milwaukee on Tuesday, when the “It Was All A Dream” Tour featuring himself and Candis, makes a stop at Mango’s. We caught up with Mickey ahead of Tuesday’s show, and found out more about the tour, as well as when we can expect new Mickey Factz music. Check it out:
B&E: The tour is called the “It Was All A Dream Tour”. How did that name come up?
Mickey: Well it came about working with Dreamhouse Entertainment, their flagship artist Candis, and Co-CEO Jonathan “Hook” Fleming. We wanted to incorporate their name into the tour while also fulfilling my mantra of living your dreams.
B&E: You’re headlining this tour, along with Candis. Where did you first hear of her and her music?
Mickey: Shake my tour manager sent her music to me. I thought it was super ill. She can rap very well and I like giving chances to up and coming artists. Giving them game. Teaching them what it’s like to be an artist.
B&E: “Y3” came out last year. When can we expect a new Mickey Factz tape? Is there an album in the works?
Mickey: The next project is titled Expressionisms circa ’82. Produced entirely by Nottz. Should be out by May. Its an EP. The album, which will be 10 songs, should drop around October/November. That’s what we are gearing for.
B&E: What’s your favorite part about touring?
Mickey: Favorite part is meeting the fans and seeing the cities. Nothing like it in the world. Being able to see this vast country is amazing.
B&E: That being said, what is your least favorite part about being on the road?
Mickey: Driving to each city! It can be tough and draining (laughs). But it’s fun overall.
B&E: What can people expect when they come out to the It Was All A Dream Tour?
Mickey: Expect an amazing show, lyricism, dancing, jokes, singing, freestyling and jewels given out!
