This week’s Milwaukee Artist of the Week is Bizal McLoud, an new emcee with a lot to say. A relatively new face to the Milwaukee scene, Bizal isn’t afraid to get his name out there, playing shows in support of his first mixtape, “Da BIZness”. With a mix of some trap beats with more of a lyrical style than most trap rappers, Bizal is eager to stand out in the crowd.
“Da BIZness” starts off like a lot of mixtapes, with a barrage of beat heavy tracks, but where most rappers keep going with that flow until a listener gets sick of it, Bizal switches it up with “I’m Good”. The track isn’t as beat-focused as some of the other material, and it shows you a different side of McLoud. He continues with some trap style beats as the tape moves on, but he isn’t screaming at you about what he has, like a lot of artists try to do. Instead, McLoud delivers a flow that you can ride to, rather than having to constantly keep the energy going. While it’s slightly more mellow, it doesn’t mean that it’s any less entertaining. Bizal Mcloud mixes it up well.
Overall, this tape has a very southern feel to it, for some reason. My best comparison would be to say that it sounds a little like Big K.R.I.T.’s “4eva In A Day” & “Return of 4eva” tapes, but it’s definitely not a bite at Krizzle’s style at all. Bizal McLoud took a similar sound and definitely made it his own. He manages to take a variety of tracks and blend them, combined with lyrics that you can get behind.
“Da BIZness” has a lot of bright spots to it throughout. It almost sounds like an album at times, which is something that many artists strive for but fail to accomplish. With an array of styles to check out, Bizal McLoud tells you his story throughout this solid debut release. Expect more from him in the new future, as I’m sure this is only the beginning of a solid line of releases. According to Twitter, “Da BIZness 2” is already on the way. Stream “Da BIZness” below:
