In 2008, two high school friends set out to accomplish something that they’ve always wanted too. We’re not talking about us; we started doing the whole podcast/radio/t-shirt thing in 2009. We’re talking about this week’s Milwaukee Artist of the Week, Ian and the Dream. Ian Ash and Chivo are setting out to make their mark on the world by any means necessary. They’ve competed in the Bodog Battle of the Bands, and Ash received several callbacks for NBC’s The Voice.

In between all of that performing and competing, Ian and The Dream have recently put out a new EP, “Saturns Of Stars”, earlier this month. The songs are guitar driven pop tunes, which sounds like a contradiction at first, but actually is done well. Credit to both the band and Grammy award winning producer Stephen Short, who worked on the EP with them. Short has worked with a few other bands/artists that you may know, such as Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Queen, and some guy named Paul McCartney (kidding, but he really did work with both McCartney as a solo artist and Wings). With that level of talent guiding Ian and The Dream, the end result is a summer-ready soundtrack, complete with clean guitars and catchy hooks that will be stuck in your head for days. Ian and the Dream are definitely a group to keep your eyes on.
