Milton Keynes pop starlet, Lydia Singer, is rising out of the underground with a sound which is catching many off their guard, including myself.
I first received her new track ‘Lemme Know’ only a few days ago, and although the description was potent, I was not expecting to find myself falling in love with her sound quite as much as I did. Furthermore, Lydia is the UK’s answer to the American greats, including Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande. She leverages her talent on this piece and who can blame her, if you have it, flaunt it.
‘Lemme Know’ starts with a serene intro melody which pulls us instantly. Lydia then arrives with a relatively orthodox singing melody. She sings with charisma, and her vocal performance is striking. I relish how she delves far into her vocal register often coming out with a variety of high and low notes. Also, her tone is impressive with her singing sharper than a serpent’s tooth.
As the track plays out, the music increases in energy and leads us into the chorus in a trendy fashion. The hook is golden, and although it does not sound immensely as colossal as I believe it could have done, it still arrives with a nail-biting texture, and lyrically, Lydia gets her message across with no confusion. The singer is desperately looking for her lover to express themself. She wants them to tell her what they want, and although she knows it, she wants hard proof.
Musically, ‘Lemme Know’ picks us up regularly with an upbeat tempo. But, a variety of sounds keep us down on earth with natural sounds popping out here, there and everywhere.
