ALABAMA Teams Up With the Late Dan Seals for Soul-Stirring Duet “Still Reelin’ (From Those Rock & Roll Days)”
Some songs don’t just reach for the past — they live there, keeping the porch light on for memories that refuse to fade. That’s exactly the territory ALABAMA steps into with their newly released duet alongside the late Dan Seals, “Still Reelin’ (From Those Rock & Roll Days),” out today.
Written by Allen Shamblin and Dan Seals, the track first appeared on Seals’ 1998 record In A Quiet Room Vol. II. Nearly three decades later, Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry have added their unmistakable harmonies to Seals’ pure, aching vocal — the kind of pairing that feels less like a feature and more like a long-overdue conversation between kindred spirits.
“I loved the pure heartfelt delivery in Dan’s voice. I felt honored to be asked to be on the song! The Seals recording is great,” says Randy Owen.
The lyrics unfold like a photograph you forgot was in the drawer — doors that were always open, old guitars, the all-night radio humming a kid to sleep. By the time the chorus rolls around, you understand the title completely. Some rooms go empty, some roads get long, but the music you were raised on keeps the room spinning.
This is ALABAMA’s first new release since their 2023 collaboration with Gaither and The Oak Ridge Boys on “Jesus and John Wayne,” and it arrives while the band is deep into their One Last Ride North American tour, set to wrap this fall in St. Augustine, Florida. With 43 No. 1 singles, 80 million records sold, and five decades of country-rock trailblazing behind them, Owen and Gentry are clearly in no mood to coast — they’re still swinging for the fences.
The duet is a preview of Dan Seals & Friends: The Last Duet, dropping August 28. The album pairs Seals’ vocals with a who’s-who of country talent including Blake Shelton, Jamey Johnson, Luke Bryan, Vince Gill, and Suzy Bogguss, honoring the one-of-a-kind artist who played a right-handed 12-string “upside down and backwards” and racked up 11 No. 1 country hits after reinventing himself from pop stardom as half of England Dan & John Ford Coley.

Pour yourself something cold, crack a window, and let it play twice. Some songs earn the repeat.
