Country music trailblazer and Country Music Hall of Fame member Randy Travis is officially back in the studio saddle. The Warner Records Nashville legend has announced his first album of original music in more than 18 years, previewing the project this week during a heartfelt visit to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. The first single, “Fish On,” lands Friday, July 10.

The rollout began where it mattered most. Before any press cycle, before any playlist pitch, Travis walked the halls of St. Jude and shared the new music with patients and their families. Rising Billboard-charting country artist Alexandra Kay joined him, performing three of his signature No. 1 hits, “Forever and Ever, Amen,” “I Told You So,” and “Deeper Than The Holler,” for a room full of kids and parents who know a thing or two about perseverance. Fitting company for a man whose own comeback story has become the stuff of country legend.

“Sharing the love of music for decades with listeners of all ages has been an honor of mine. I feel extremely blessed,” Travis said, with help from his wife Mary. “Earlier this week, as we announced my new album and played some of the songs for the children and families at St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, I was reminded of my reason for doing it. Gratitude and appreciation welled up as emotions I didn’t expect when stories were shared about a particular song’s impact on their lives. I hope these dusted-off songs from the vault touch folks the same old way.”

Here’s where the story gets especially cool. Longtime producer Kyle Lehning went spelunking through decades of tape, assembling, remixing, and remastering songs that never quite made it out into the world the first time around. In most cases, buried treasures like these don’t see daylight until well after an artist is gone. Travis, remarkably, gets to be in the room for it, hand-picking which lost gems finally get their moment. Consider it a vault-cracking event for one of the most decorated voices in country music history.

The timing couldn’t be sweeter. 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of Travis’s multi-platinum debut Storms Of Life, and his ongoing More Life Tour has already rolled through 54 cities across 24 states, wrapping this fall. An additional full album of unreleased material is slated for late 2026, with songs trickling out through the back half of the year.
