Green Day are cranking the amps back up — this time for the big screen. Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool have officially announced the NIMRODS Original Soundtrack, a beastly 30-track companion to their upcoming film NIMRODS, arriving July 31 on CD, cassette, digital, and a slew of vinyl variants. Pre-orders are open now, and if history is any guide, the color variants will vanish faster than a Dookie-era setlist.

The tracklist is a punk-rock fever dream: 22 fan-favorite Green Day cuts spanning their entire catalog, from “Longview” and “Basket Case” to “Wake Me Up When September Ends” and “Good Riddance.” Add in four previously unreleased live recordings from the band’s Palladium performance in Los Angeles (as featured in the film), plus contributions from The Paradox, Ultra Q, Mckenna Grace, and four songs from Analog Dogs — the fictitious band at the heart of the movie — and you’ve got a soundtrack that plays like both a greatest-hits primer and a scrappy mixtape from your coolest friend.

The centerpiece for early listeners? Brand-new Green Day song “I’m Never Gonna R.I.P.,” out today on all DSPs and Green Day’s official YouTube channel. It’s classic Green Day energy — snotty, hooky, and built for a sing-along in a sweaty theater lobby.

The NIMRODS film hits theaters August 14. Developed by writer/director Lee Kirk with Green Day and produced by Tim Perell, it’s a coming-of-age road trip about three friends (Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, and Ryan Foust) who barrel across the country to Los Angeles, convinced their band is opening for Green Day on New Year’s Eve. Spoiler: they are, in fact, nimrods. The cast is stacked too — Ignacio Diaz-Silverio, Keen Ruffalo, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Mckenna Grace, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee, and Sean Gunn all pile into the van.

Loosely inspired by Green Day’s own scrappy tour-van years, NIMRODS looks like the punk rock coming-of-age flick fans have been waiting decades for. Between the soundtrack’s career-spanning sequencing (Insomniac deep cuts! Nimrod rarities! Saviors-era swagger!) and the live Palladium recordings of “American Idiot,” “Know Your Enemy,” “Auld Lang Syne,” and “Going to Pasalacqua,” this release doubles as a love letter to nearly 40 years of Green Day chaos.
