Berlin’s rave ringleader is officially claiming the throne. Marlon Hoffstadt — the acclaimed producer and DJ also known to the faithful as DJ Daddy Trance — will drop his new album Das Ist Daddy on August 7 via Capitol Records, in partnership with Goodlife Management and MC3. Translation? “That Is Daddy.” Subtle, it is not. That’s kind of the point.

The album title first flashed across the Sahara Stage screens during Hoffstadt’s Coachella debut earlier this year — a full-circle moment for an artist who invited 300 of his fans up on stage with him mid-set. Das Ist Daddy is the recorded version of that same fan-first energy: a surprise-style love letter to his community, opening with the fan-powered anthem “Party People” and stacked with seven more high-voltage club weapons.

Out today, lead single “Party People” is exactly the kind of dancefloor grenade you’d expect from an artist Mixmag recently crowned “a global dance phenomenon, a defining DJ of the now.” The track cleverly samples Marshall Jefferson’s 1986 house classic “Move Your Body” — the same cut that famously scored Michael Winterbottom’s Manchester rave film 24 Hour Party People — alongside a nod to The Puppies’ “Hokey Pokey II.” The result is a euphoric, hands-in-the-air throwback that feels tailor-made for festival main stages and 4 a.m. warehouse sets alike.
