Phoenix’s genre-defying heavy hitters DED have officially pulled back the curtain on the making of their acclaimed 2025 album RESENT. Today, July 3, the band drops RESENT: Deluxe Edition via UNFD — an expanded, 23-track version of the record that layers 11 new cuts onto the original 12-song lineup, including unreleased tracks, contenders that didn’t quite make the final cut, and a stack of demos ranging from rough sketches to nearly-finished recordings.

To mark the occasion, DED — vocalist Joe Cotela, guitarist Alex Adamcik, bassist Kyle Koelsch, and drummer Matt Reinhard — are also sharing “Denouncer,” a track that premiered on SiriusXM’s Octane and now gets the full public release it deserves. “Denouncer” is a fascinating addition to the RESENT universe precisely because it almost didn’t exist in it. As Cotela explains, the song has always been a favorite of his, but its energy sat a little left-of-center compared to the rest of the album. In hindsight, that off-kilter quality is exactly what gives it its bite. Lyrically, it’s a pointed meditation on spiritual autonomy — a refusal to hand personal power over to evangelists, politicians, institutions, or anyone weaponizing faith to control others.

“It’s about questioning anyone who claims to speak on behalf of something greater,” Cotela says, framing the track less as an attack on belief itself and more as a call for curiosity, growth, and personal freedom. “Well,” he adds, “maybe a little cynicism.”

The deluxe edition is essentially an all-access pass to the RESENT era. Beyond “Denouncer” and previously released single “Weapon,” fans get “Set The World on Fire,” “Windbreaker,” and “I’m Here To Stay,” plus six demos — “Become The Villain,” “Get Ready Stay Ready,” “Phantom Limb,” “Missed The Point,” “Colors,” and “Wave and Watch” — that trace the creative DNA of the finished record. It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes deep dive that die-hards live for and casual listeners will find surprisingly rewarding.

“We thought it would be cool to put everything out there and give people a look behind the curtain,” Cotela says. “These songs and demos were all part of the creative process behind RESENT, and we wanted fans to hear the full picture of what we were working on during that era.”

DED aren’t stopping at the release, either. The band hits the road this month for a headlining run with support from Dropout Kings and VRSTY, kicking off July 11 at The Rebel Lounge in Phoenix and rolling through markets across the country — including a festival stop at Inkcarceration on July 17 and Rock Fest in Cadott, WI on July 18 — before wrapping August 8 at Mesa Theater in Grand Junction, CO.
