If you spent Fourth of July weekend firing off questionably legal fireworks in the backyard while blasting something with a banjo and a chip on its shoulder, DELTONA would like a word — and probably a beer. The Nashville-based country-rock trio just dropped their new single “The Country,” a rowdy, unapologetic love letter to two-lane roads, single-pump gas stations, and King Ranch trucks. It’s out now via The Core Records, and it might be the most fun three minutes of country music you’ll hear all summer.

Made up of vocalist Ned Abernathy (Georgia), guitarist Caleb Miller (Ohio), and drummer Chris Deaton (Tennessee), DELTONA are on a mission to bring bands back to country music — and “The Country” is exhibit A in the case for their prosecution. Written by the band alongside Dan Agee and Nick Wayne, and produced by frequent collaborator Jason Massey (Cole Swindell, Kelsea Ballerini), the track kicks the door in with pounding rhythms, blazing banjo riffs, and a masterful barrage of explosive guitar work. Abernathy fires off each verse with a rapid-fire cadence before launching into a full-throated chorus that doubles as a manifesto: “I’ll never leave the country / Got all I need from Sunday to Sunday / No better livin’ nowhere in the world / Than country fried chicken / And a country-fied girl.”

“‘The Country’ was one of the first high-energy songs we wrote together,” the band shares. “It’s filled with the things we love about country living and the way each of us was raised. We think a lot of people will relate to it, and if nothing else, it’ll get you moving.”

“The Country” follows last month’s smoldering “Let It Burn” and May’s rowdy “Party’s In The Back,” which landed on Country Swag’s “New Country Music Friday” playlist. It’s the latest chapter in a run that’s seen DELTONA hailed by Atwood Magazine for “blending Eric Church-sized swagger and a healthy dose of country-rock chaos into one of Nashville’s most entertaining new acts.” Between arena-sized breakup anthems like “Love Don’t Love Me,” “How To Not Help A Heartbreak,” and “Cared Enough to Cry,” the trio has quietly built one of the most dynamic young catalogs in modern country.

They’ve earned it on the road, too. Recent runs with Lee Brice, Jordan Davis, and Avery Anna — plus support slots for Rodney Atkins, George Birge, and Cooper Alan — have cemented DELTONA’s reputation as a live act you don’t want to sleep on. After a knockout showing at WME’s “Losers Live” showcase during CMA Fest week, the band is now gearing up for an August 8 show at The Beat Box in East Liverpool, OH.
