Hamilton, Ontario’s Dead Tired have always operated on their own clock — a fact that becomes clear the moment you hear how confidently their new material lands. The band, fronted by Alexisonfire’s George Pettit, exists in the gaps between arena tours, tattoo shifts, studio bookings, and the occasional top-shelf scotch, and that unhurried, friends-first approach continues to serve them well.

Today, the quintet has shared “Dust Storm,” a punishing new single featuring Comeback Kid’s Andrew Neufeld on guest vocals. It’s the latest offering from their forthcoming fourth full-length, Hornets of Fall, out August 14 via New Damage Records.

“Now that I look back on the record, there is a lot of nature imagery,” Pettit says of the track. “Nature seems equally impossibly beautiful but also ominous and indifferent to life around it. Big break down and Andrew from Comeback Kid…what a racket.”

Racket is the right word. “Dust Storm” swings between grinding low-end menace and a breakdown built for basement shows and broken ceiling tiles, with Neufeld’s unmistakable bark cutting through like a warning siren. It’s a nasty, satisfying preview of an album Dead Tired are calling their favorite to date.

Hornets of Fall was written and recorded at the band’s own pace — no label pressure, no rush, no filler. Across 12 tracks, the LP swerves between blast-beat urgency and doomier crawls, with additional guest spots from Cancer Bats’ Liam Cormier,单车’s Dave O’Connor, and The Flatliners’ Chris Cresswell. If you want it fast, they’ve got it. If you need it slow, they’ve got that too. If you demand a riff, just give it a second.
