Chicago’s own BJRNCK is back, and she’s brought a hometown heavyweight along for the ride. The Grammy-nominated R&B singer-songwriter has just released “Coming Home,” a soul-drenched new single featuring G Herbo, out now via Interscope / Geffen Records. It’s the first taste of the forthcoming deluxe edition of her debut album, A Girl Like Me, and if this record is any indication, the deluxe is shaping up to be more than just a bonus round.

“Coming Home” plays like a modern-day duet about love on the rocks. BJRNCK’s soulful vocals carry the weight of a relationship falling apart, while G Herbo answers back with an honest, unpolished perspective on wanting to make it right. Two Chicago natives, two sides of the same story, one classic R&B feel — the chemistry is undeniable.

“Coming Home hits different for me because it brought two Chicago natives back to where it all started,” BJRNCK said of the collaboration. “Getting G Herbo on a classic rnb feel, and then going back to the city to shoot the video, made everything feel authentic in a way you can’t fake.”

Directed by SALTY, the accompanying music video was shot on location in Chicago and plays out like a short film — two people processing the same heartbreak from opposite ends of the phone line. It’s cinematic, it’s intimate, and it captures exactly the kind of nostalgic, ’90s-and-early-2000s-inspired R&B energy BJRNCK has been championing since day one.

For BJRNCK, the release marks a new chapter. She recently wrapped her first headline run — the “A Girl Like Me” tour — with sold-out stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, and she’s showing no signs of slowing down. Raised in the church and sharpened by early features alongside icons like Babyface and Omarion (including a Billboard 100 placement on Omarion’s “Taking Off”), BJRNCK is on a mission to bring honesty back to R&B. G Herbo, meanwhile, is in the middle of his own full-circle moment.
