There’s something quietly disarming about the way Coco Smith writes a song. The New York City songwriter announced today that she’s signed to Brooklyn-based indie label Vinegar Hill Sound Records (VHS Records), and with the signing comes news of her forthcoming album, You Won’t Get My Message but You’ll Hear It, arriving July 10, 2026. “Multiform” is a study in restraint. Delicate strings drift through an airy atmosphere while plucky guitars keep the song tethered to the ground, and Coco’s voice hovers above the arrangement like it’s deciding whether to stay or leave. Carey-tinged “Eastchester” and the Duster-leaning “Chug Along.” The album closes with “You Know Everything,” a hopeful meditation on love and grief that lets the record breathe out.
