Alt-rock trio Weathers are back with a fresh spin on a fan-favorite. Today, Friday, June 26, 2026, the Southern California outfit released “Happy Pillz (Higher Dose)” — a full-blooded re-recording of their breakout 2016 anthem “Happy Pills” — via their new label home, Big Machine Rock.

The reimagined track hits like a familiar rush with a stronger kick. Frontman Cameron Boyer, guitarist Cameron Olsen, and bassist Brennen Bates have preserved the aching hook and confessional pull that made the original a Billboard Alternative Songs staple (it peaked at No. 21), while dialing up the sonics to reflect where the band stands nearly a decade on.

“‘Happy Pills’ is already familiar to our fans, but this new version breathes life into something beloved for some time,” the band shared. “It has the new sound of who we are today while sticking to the roots of what we know our fans love. We didn’t want to change much but wanted them to hear what it would sound like re-recorded today. We hope it gives our dedicated fans a second dose of the same energy with a new high that has no come down. We feel like it signifies a new life for the song. As if it was given a second chance to do it all over again.”

It’s a fitting moment for a track that has quietly become a mental-health touchstone for a generation of listeners. Since forming in 2015, Weathers have built a catalog of introspective, hook-forward pop-rock — from their swaggering debut “I Don’t Wanna Know” to the 2018 EP Kids in the Night — that leans hard into the counter-culture spirit of the ’80s and ’90s while speaking directly to anyone who’s ever masked a bad day with a good playlist.

Consider “Happy Pillz (Higher Dose)” both a love letter to longtime fans and a mission statement for the band’s Big Machine Rock era. If this is chapter one, it’s a very promising refill.
