Written by Smith alongside Kamryn Heatly and produced by GRAMMY Award-winning studio wizard Dave Cobb (Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton), “The Ragdoll” is the kind of confessional Americana that doesn’t bother dressing up its bruises. It’s a song about guilt, devotion, and the quiet, stubborn hope that somebody might still love you after they’ve seen your worst. Anchored by Smith’s rugged, lived-in vocal delivery and pushed forward by gritty guitars and driving rhythms, the track lands somewhere in the tension between self-destruction and salvation — and stays there long enough to make you feel it.

“‘The Ragdoll’ is about being at a point where you’ve got nothing left to hide,” Smith says. “It’s about knowing you’ve made mistakes, hurt people you care about, and still hoping somebody sees enough good in you to stay. I think we’ve all had moments where we felt broken in one way or another, and this song came from that place.”

The new single continues a remarkable run for the 22-year-old Nashville-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Following his acclaimed 2025 debut EP Reckon So and buzzed-about singles “Lavender” and “Supertramp,” “The Ragdoll” doubles down on the raw honesty, restless energy, and sharp storytelling that have made Smith one of the most compelling new voices in the post-Millennial Americana conversation.

Raised forty-five minutes south of Atlanta in McDonough, GA, Smith grew up playing in bands and cutting his teeth on GarageBand demos recorded on an iPad. His influences run the gamut — Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, and Rainbow Kitten Surprise on one hand, Deftones and Jason Isbell on the other — and you can hear all of it colliding in his sound. His breakout single “If You Want Me Tonight” racked up more than 14 million Spotify streams, and follow-ups “July 6th” and “Taking Off to Tennessee” cemented his status as a fast-rising Nashville favorite.

Along the way, Smith has shared stages with the likes of Tyler Halverson, Uncle Lucius, Gavin Adcock, Whiskey Myers, 49 Winchester, and Kashus Culpepper, and turned in memorable sets at GATAJAM, CMA Fest, and Summerfest Milwaukee.
