Kurt Stevens Trades the Grind for the Shoreline on New Single “Over & Out”

If you’ve been staring at your inbox wondering when the walls of your office are going to close in, Kurt Stevens has your permission slip. The independent singer-songwriter just dropped his new single “Over & Out,” and it’s basically a three-minute vacation you don’t have to request PTO for.

Written on a rainy Nashville day when Stevens was feeling landlocked and homesick for the Florida coast, “Over & Out” trades the anxiety of the everyday grind for salt air, a warm sun, and (yes) a cold beer at the dock. It’s the kind of track that makes you want to leave your phone in the glovebox and pretend, at least for the length of a song, that responsibilities are somebody else’s problem.

“‘Over & Out’ was a song that poured out of me, as the idea of taking time for yourself seems so simple, yet feels unattainable in today’s world,” Stevens shared. “I hope this song serves as a reminder to take a break from the daily grind, and do something that revives your spirit. For me, that’s leaving the phone at the dock and getting out on the water. Taking in the salty air, the warm sun, a cold beer, and finding peace — even if it’s only for a little while.”

Self-penned by Stevens, the track continues to build on the tropical, storytelling-forward sound that’s earned him a spot on SiriusXM’s Radio Margaritaville and racked up over two million streams across his catalog. With more than 1,300 live shows under his belt — and opening slots for the likes of Luke Combs, Jake Owen, Maren Morris, and The Band Perry — Stevens has quietly become one of the most reliable purveyors of good-vibes-only country on the circuit.
