Mongolia’s mightiest export is back in the saddle. Hunnu Rock pioneers The HU — Galaa, Jaya, Enkush, and Temka — have just unleashed the official video for “Grey Hun,” the latest thundering offering from their upcoming third full-length album, HUN, out July 24 via Better Noise Music.

If you’ve never surrendered to the hypnotic power of throat singing layered over morin khuur, tumur khuur, tsuur, and tovshuur, “Grey Hun” is the perfect gateway drug. The song rides in on a percussive gallop, colliding cultures and sonic worlds into something that could only belong to The HU. It’s the kind of track that makes you want to grab a horse, ride across a vast steppe, and figure out who you really are along the way.

That imagery is not accidental. “‘Grey Hun’ is a song that encourages everyone to be comfortable with just being themselves. It started with composing the riff as I imagined a man riding his horse through a vast landscape,” Enkush explains. “From there, it took a while for us to finish the song because we wanted to make sure to clearly communicate the positive message of the song.”

“Grey Hun” follows the band’s hypnotic single “Lost Soul,” featuring Jonny Hawkins of Nothing More — a first-time collaboration between the Gold-certified global phenomenon and the Texas rock outfit. The track is currently climbing the active rock charts and only sharpens the anticipation for what’s coming next.

HUN, first tipped as a next-level statement from a band NPR championed as far back as 2019, finds The HU at the peak of their considerable powers. Across 11 tracks steeped in Mongolian lore and lifted by universal ambition, the album pushes the scope of their signature Hunnu Rock into bigger, bolder territory. Expect epic. Expect enthralling. Expect enigmatic.

“We took our time to do this right, and we’re so glad that we’re almost ready to release what we have worked on these past few years,” the band shares. “Now, we are also focusing on the performances and working out a brand-new setlist. We want to play bigger venues so we can do extensive production, bring in some amazing elements of our culture, and play these ideas to our fans. And, as well as our third album, we have some amazing ideas for another album already!”

The HU just wrapped a triumphant North American headline tour, but they’re not sheathing their swords anytime soon. The band will return stateside in August as direct support to Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson before heading to the UK and Europe with SKALD this fall. There’s also a small matter of sharing a stage with Iron Maiden at Knebworth’s EddFest on July 11.

North American highlights with Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, and Orgy include stops in West Palm Beach, Tampa, Alpharetta, Charlotte, Holmdel, Mansfield, Burgettstown, Darien Center, Toronto, Cuyahoga Falls, Clarkston, Tinley Park, Noblesville, Maryland Heights, Kansas City, Greenwood Village, West Valley City, Airway Heights, Auburn, Ridgefield, and Concord throughout August and September.

The UK/EU run with SKALD kicks off September 29 in Glasgow and rides through Bristol, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Belfast, Dublin, Birmingham, London’s O2 Academy Brixton, Manchester, Norwich, Brussels, Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, Warsaw, Cologne, Utrecht, Tilburg, Paris, Lyon, Zurich, and Esch-sur-Alzette through the end of October.
