Good Neighbours Return With Feel-Good Summer Anthem “Superstar”
Some songs sneak up on you. “Superstar,” the brand-new single from UK duo Good Neighbours, does the exact opposite — it kicks the door down, grabs you by the collar, and asks if you’ve ever fallen for someone approximately five minutes after meeting them. Out today via Capitol Records, it’s the sound of a band leaning into a rawer, more energetic version of themselves, and honestly? It suits them.
Oli Fox and Scott Verrill — the pair behind 2025’s acclaimed debut album Blue Sky Mentality and the RIAA Platinum-certified global juggernaut “Home” — produced “Superstar” themselves, co-writing with Jesse Fink (Myles Smith, Artemas). The result is a giddy, hook-drenched anthem that’s already been racking up more than 10 million combined TikTok views from teaser clips alone. Fans have wasted no time crowning it a frontrunner for song of the summer, and after one listen, it’s not hard to hear why.
“‘Superstar’ feels like the start of something new for us — the first glimpse of a rawer, more energetic sound,” the duo said in a statement. “It’s a shameless admission of catching feelings for someone you’ve only just met and instantly being all in. No pretending to play it cool, just embracing the excitement and chaos of it all, and being completely fine with losing your composure.”
That refusal to play it cool has been the Good Neighbours calling card since they formed in late 2023. Blue Sky Mentality has piled up over 1.4 billion global streams, “Home” spent 11 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and a staggering 40 weeks in the top 10 of the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, and follow-ups like “Daisies,” “Ripple” and “People Need People” cemented their reputation for big-hearted, unselfconscious pop songs that aim squarely at both the head and the chest. “Superstar” doesn’t reinvent that formula so much as plug it into a louder amp.
