Sydney R&B duo CVIRO & GXNXVS are back, and they’ve brought some serious company. Their new single “Where You Belong” pairs the pair with US favourite Ye Ali and rising singer-songwriter (and “The Chi” cast member) Amari Noelle for a smooth, late-night collaboration that lands alongside an official music video.

If you’ve been following CVIRO & GXNXVS for a while, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. These are the same guys who became the first Australian artists spun on Drake’s OVO Sound Radio and Beats 1, and they’ve spent the last several years quietly building one of the most globally connected independent R&B catalogues to come out of Australia. “Where You Belong” is another step in that direction, bringing together two continents worth of talent without ever losing the intimate, after-hours feel that defines their sound.

Sonically, the record leans right into the good stuff. Warm 90s-inspired drums, stacked harmonies, and a smooth call-and-response between the four voices give it the kind of energy you’d expect from a lost Donell Jones, 112, or Jagged Edge cut, only polished with a very 2025 sheen. It’s nostalgic, but it never tips into throwback territory. Ye Ali brings his signature contemporary R&B-meets-alt-soul edge, while Amari Noelle’s vocal adds a soft, magnetic counterweight that ties the whole thing together.

The release rides a strong wave of momentum for the duo. Zoom out a little further and the numbers speak for themselves: “Benjamins” has racked up more than 10 million Spotify streams, “Problem” cracked the Top 5 of Spotify’s Global Viral Chart, and their collaboration with JAHKOY landed on the Joe Budden Podcast and Soulection Radio. Add collaborators like Phabo, TYuS, Journey Montana, July 7, H33RA, Teo Glacier, and Zuhair to the résumé and the international footprint becomes hard to ignore.

“Where You Belong” feels like a natural continuation of that arc. It’s a record that honours where R&B has been while confidently staking a claim in where it’s going, and it makes a strong case that CVIRO & GXNXVS aren’t just Australia’s best-kept R&B secret anymore.
