156/Silence Drop Haunting New Single “Proxy Idols” Ahead of ‘From A Distance’ LP Out September 4 via Pure Noise Records

Pittsburgh’s atmospheric metalcore heavyweights 156/Silence are not slowing down. The quintet just unleashed “Proxy Idols,” the latest single and official video from their forthcoming sixth album ‘From A Distance,’ due Friday, September 4 via Pure Noise Records. It’s their first full-length for the label, and if this track is any indication, it’s going to hit like a freight train wrapped in fog.

“Celebrity worship is more prevalent than ever,” the band says of the new song. “They come and go as they do, being forced into our faces until then the next batch comes through. People’s obsessive compulsion to follow other people’s lives that they’ll never once meet. It’s almost as sad as it is maddening.”

That razor-focused social commentary is the connective tissue running through ‘From A Distance.’ Where 2024’s breakout ‘People Watching’ documented tension up close, this record steps back and takes in the whole rotten panorama — celebrity obsession, intrusive thoughts, the slow erosion of real human connection. Vocalist Jack Murray’s lyrics remain personal and incisive, while guitarist and primary songwriter Jimmy Howell leans harder than ever into atmosphere, mood, and cinematic weight. Produced by Josh Schroeder (King 810, Lorna Shore, The Plot In You), the album pulls influence from prestige TV like Twin Peaks and Severance, and even classic survival horror game scores like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. It’s heavy, it’s heady, and it refuses to sit still in any one genre lane.

The tracklist also boasts a stacked guest roster: Mike Hranica of The Devil Wears Prada appears on “Cannon Fodder,” Alex Reade of Make Them Suffer lends vocals to the title track, and Tony Castrati of Crippling Alcoholism turns up on “Collateral.”

‘From A Distance’ Tracklist:
1. Control Burns
2. No Arms
3. Order & Entropy
4. Swept From Under (Call of The Void)
5. An Early Exit
6. Collateral (ft. Tony Castrati of Crippling Alcoholism)
7. Cannon Fodder (ft. Mike Hranica of The Devil Wears Prada)
8. Secret Room
9. Proxy Idols
10. Phoenix Dies
11. From A Distance (ft. Alex Reade of Make Them Suffer)
12. After Dusk
