New York City’s Whisper Doll — the dream pop project helmed by bandleader Fiona Tagami — have officially announced their sophomore album, Lucky Clover, arriving October 2, 2026 via Brooklyn’s Take Care Records. Pre-orders are live now, and if the lead single is any indication, this record is going to soundtrack a lot of late-summer walks and early-autumn daydreams.

The announcement lands alongside “Bluebells,” a shimmering, sun-drenched single that plays like a love letter to Fiona’s Brooklyn home. Upbeat riffs collide with her signature vocals — the kind that settle over a mix like a soft blanket — as the track sweeps the listener through a dreamlike, hopeful haze. It’s the sound of someone actively choosing whimsy, and it’s contagious.

The accompanying music video, directed by longtime collaborator Owen Lehman (Geese, MX LONELY), leans into the fantasy. Inspired by Alice in Wonderland, the visual features magical animal characters, a tea party, and the kind of chaotic-but-perfect DIY energy that only happens when a band shoots on the fly. As Fiona tells it, the entire clip was filmed in a single five-hour sprint on Bard’s campus while she and her bandmates were en route to their first tour date — no crew, dwindling daylight, and (spoiler) she accidentally sent her tour suitcase back to NYC in the process. Somehow, it all worked out.

Lucky Clover follows April’s stunning “Am I A Knife,” the twinkling, bass-driven single that heralded the band’s signing to Take Care and set a high bar for what was to come. Where that track wrestled with the male gaze and the weight of feminine desire, “Bluebells” answers with lightness — proof that Whisper Doll’s world can hold both the shadow and the sun.

Recorded over eight days at Vinegar Hill Sound in Dumbo with producer Oscar Compo and engineer Reed Black, Lucky Clover is Whisper Doll’s first full-band record and the first made entirely in New York. Rounded out by drummer Shawn Majeed, guitarist Maya Lagman, and bassist Julia Chrzanowski, the album layers synths, keys, bells, and ambient textures to build something Fiona describes as “very dreamy but still grounded.” The influences run deep — The Sundays, Mazzy Star, The Cranberries, Nick Drake, and even the 1966 Czechoslovakian film Daisies (from which the band takes its name) — but the result is unmistakably her own.

Across ten tracks, the record moves through gratitude (“Lucky Clover,” “Bluebells”), yearning (“I Dream Next To You,” “Sun Signs,” “On the Inside”), grief and grace (“Air,” “Bloody Knees”), and hard-won peace (“So Sweet”). It’s the sound of an artist actively cultivating hope — and inviting listeners to do the same.
