Some collaborations feel like they were written in the stars — or at least in a well-worn tour van somewhere between Fort Payne and Texas. On July 10, country-rock titans ALABAMA will join the late Dan Seals on a brand-new duet, “Still Reelin’ (From Those Rock & Roll Days),” and if the title alone doesn’t have you flipping through your dad’s record collection, the song certainly will.

Written by Seals alongside hit-maker Allen Shamblin, “Still Reelin'” is a heartfelt walk down memory lane. Seals tips his hat to the early influences who shaped him — Elvis Presley chief among them — while quietly celebrating the pop-rock chapter of his life that preceded his monumental country run. It’s part gratitude, part time machine, and entirely the kind of song ALABAMA was born to sit inside of.

“I loved the pure heartfelt delivery in his (Dan’s) voice. I felt honored to be asked to be on the song! The Seals recording is great,” says ALABAMA frontman Randy Owen.

The connection between these two camps runs deeper than a shared July release date. Dan’s cousin, the late Troy Seals, co-wrote ALABAMA’s 1984 No. 1 ballad “When We Make Love” with Mentor Williams — a track that landed on the band’s eighth album, Roll On. Call it a family reunion four decades in the making.

For the uninitiated (and shame on you), ALABAMA — cousins Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry — remain the most decorated band in country music history. Try 43 No. 1 singles, over 250 industry awards, and a Country Music Hall of Fame induction on for size. Founding member Jeff Cook, who passed in 2022 after a battle with Parkinson’s disease, is felt on every note the band still plays.

Dan Seals, meanwhile, was the rare artist who conquered two genres. As one half of England Dan & John Ford Coley, he delivered soft-rock staples like “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight.” Then he pivoted, notched eleven No. 1 country hits including “Bop” and “Meet Me in Montana,” and left behind a catalog that still holds up beautifully. He passed away in 2009, but 2025 saw him posthumously inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame — and 2026 brings one more gift to fans.

“Still Reelin’ (From Those Rock & Roll Days)” is the latest single from Dan Seals & Friends: The Last Duet, a star-studded tribute album arriving August 28. The full guest list reads like a country radio hall pass: Blake Shelton, Marie Osmond, Ned LeDoux, Sara Evans, Tanya Tucker, and many more lend their voices to Seals’ final duet project.

ALABAMA fans in the area can also catch the band this weekend at their annual Fan Appreciation Week, a four-day celebration in support of the June Jam Foundation and DeKalb County Children’s Advocacy Center, featuring songwriter showcases, a “Singing with the Stars” talent contest, and live performances.
