Twenty-three years is a long time to wait for a reunion, but as anyone lucky enough to catch The Guess Who’s Canadian arena run this spring can attest, the wait was absolutely worth it. Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman have officially wrapped the first leg of the Takin’ It Back Tour on home soil, and now the legendary Canadian rockers are pointing the tour bus south for a summer-long U.S. run that kicks off June 25 at Mystic Lake Amphitheater in Shakopee, MN.

For the uninitiated (and honestly, if you’re one of them, we envy the discovery ahead of you), The Guess Who aren’t just a nostalgia act. They’re the band Lester Bangs once declared “God,” the group Exclaim tapped for “one of the year’s most anticipated concerts,” and the crew the Toronto Star confirmed still has all the goods, noting “Cummings’ vocals have lost little of their lustre and Bachman can still execute his melodically infectious guitar riffs with pinpoint precision.” V13 put it more bluntly: “They claimed the Canadian Rock Crown in the late ’60s and early ’70s. In 2026, they still lay claim to the crown.”

The Canadian leg was, by every account, a full-blown love-in. NOW Toronto reported the room was “packed to the rafters, and even side stage sections, and they got a standing ovation before even playing one note.” The Calgary Herald raved that “These Eyes, American Woman, No Sugar Tonight, Laughing, No Time and Undun — were all performed with enthusiasm and polish.” That’s not a setlist. That’s a rock and roll trophy case.

“The response across Canada has been incredibly moving,” Cummings said in a statement. “Seeing fans of all generations come together to celebrate these songs has meant a great deal to Randy and me, and we’re excited to bring that same energy to our fans across the States.”

Bachman echoed the sentiment: “Getting back on stage with Burton as The Guess Who has been everything I hoped it would be. These songs still connect with people in a powerful way, and we’re excited to keep the tour rolling and bring the show to fans across America.”

Some quick context on why this tour hits differently: Formed in 1965 and often dubbed “the Canadian Beatles,” The Guess Who released eleven studio albums, every single one of which charted in both Canada and the U.S. Their 1970 landmark American Woman hit Number One in Canada and Number 9 in the States. Fourteen U.S. Top 40 singles. More than thirty in Canada. And after a hard-fought, years-long battle to reclaim their own name, watching Cummings and Bachman share a stage as The Guess Who again feels less like a reunion and more like a restoration.

The U.S. leg features support from Don Felder, formerly of the Eagles, which basically means the classic rock content-per-minute ratio on this tour is off the charts.
