Motionless In White Unleash Haunting New Video for “R.I.P.” Featuring Skylar Grey — Watch Now
Scranton, PA’s platinum-selling darkness-dealers Motionless In White are back with another gothic gut-punch, and this one hurts in all the right places. The band just dropped the video for “R.I.P.,” a stunning collaboration with pop-alternative powerhouse Skylar Grey, and it’s the kind of cinematic mourning anthem you can’t shake once it’s under your skin.
Directed by Jensen Noen — the same visual mastermind behind the band’s “Werewolf” and “Sign Of Life” clips — the “R.I.P.” video plays like a lover’s lament carved into stone. Piano glimmers cut through a fog of funereal synths as Chris Motionless and Skylar Grey trade vocals that build into a chorus meant for stadium-sized heartbreak. It’s dramatic, it’s theatrical, and it’s classic MIW at their most emotionally devastating.

“Skylar’s voice brought it to another level that I never could have achieved on my own,” Chris Motionless explained. “I really love the lyrics for this song. Even though I wrote it through a romantic lens, I love that it can be applied to any moment in your life when you’ve had a falling out with someone you deeply care about, whether that’s a best friend, family member, or romantic partner.”
He continued, “The song really hones in on the deafening silence that follows after you’ve said hurtful things to one another that you wish you could take back. It’s meant to capture the tension that exists in that quiet space of separation… you’re left with the crippling uncertainty of whether the relationship can ever recover and move forward, or if it’s destined to be laid to rest and gone forever.”
“R.I.P.” is the latest taste of Motionless In White’s forthcoming seventh full-length album, Decades, arriving July 17 via Roadrunner Records. The record was tracked in Upstate New York and Los Angeles with co-producers Drew Fulk and Justin “JD” deBlieck, and features high-profile guest turns from Corey Taylor (on “Playing God”), Skylar Grey, and Dark Divine’s Anthony Martinez. Fresh off obliterating Madison Square Garden alongside Bring Me The Horizon this spring, Motionless In White are hitting the road on their own again for The Sweat and Blood Tour — their first proper American headlining run in nearly three years. Promoted by Live Nation, the summer leg kicks off July 14 in Bridgeport, CT with support from Lorna Shore, Fit For A King, and Static Dress. Notable stops include The Kia Forum in Los Angeles and a first-ever headlining night at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
Then, because one tour is never enough for a band this relentless, MIW return for Leg 2 in the fall with Dayseeker, The Devil Wears Prada, and Dark Divine — kicking off the night before Halloween in Worcester and running through November 20 in Pittsburgh.

Two decades in, Motionless In White are still doing what they do best — bending metal, hardcore, goth, industrial, and electronic into their own singular kind of theater. “We were never afraid to take risks,” Chris reflects. “This band has not only lasted two decades, but we’ve also outlasted all of the obstacles we’ve faced. We’re still grinding… Decades is definitely heavier than some of our past albums. Our current world bred more aggressive energy, anger, and resistance.”
