Prompts Unleash Hybrid Metalcore Fury on New EP ‘Parasite Dream’ via Papercut Recordings

Tokyo’s most relentless metalcore export has arrived on Western shores with a full arsenal. Today, Prompts have officially unleashed their new EP ‘Parasite Dream’ via Papercut Recordings, capping off a rollout that has already racked up more than 935,000 Spotify streams and 316,000 YouTube views before the full record even hit the shelves. If those numbers don’t tell you the scene is paying attention, the seven tracks on this EP absolutely will.

The lead-up was calculated and lethal. Prompts dropped “Sun Eater,” “Edgerunner,” “Stranger” (featuring Landon Tewers of The Plot In You), “Deceiver,” and most recently “Death Of Me” — each single sharpening the blade a little more before the full body of work landed. The result is a project that pulls no punches: chaotic, progressive, emotionally raw, and unmistakably built for the pit.

Formed in 2012, Prompts is a multinational lineup — vocalist PK, guitarist Ryuki Matsuno, bassist/vocalist PIGURI, drummer Heaven, and guitarist YASUI — pulling from both Japanese and South Korean roots to craft a sound that refuses to sit still. Since signing to Australia’s Greyscale Records in 2024, the band has completed two Australian tours and toured across South Korea, Thailand, and the Philippines. The Landon Tewers-assisted single “Stranger” gave them their first real international spike in early 2025, and their April 2026 signing to US label Papercut Recordings set the stage for the global push they’re mounting right now.

‘Parasite Dream’ is the band’s most ambitious release to date, and it sounds like a group that finally has the runway to match its ceiling. Hit play, turn it up loud enough to annoy your neighbors, and keep an eye out — more Prompts news is on the way.
