Daughtry Announce “20 Years Unplugged” Fall US Tour With Support From Ryan Perdz
Two decades in, Daughtry are doing something they’ve never quite done at this scale — trading the arena wattage for acoustic intimacy. The multi-GRAMMY-nominated, multi-platinum rock outfit have officially announced their “20 Years Unplugged” tour, a fall run through U.S. theatres and performance halls that promises to reframe the band’s catalogue in its rawest possible form.
The trek kicks off October 12 at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy, NY, and winds its way through 22 stops before wrapping November 14 at Dallas’ historic Majestic Theatre. Along the way, fans will catch the band in rooms like The Cabot in Beverly, Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, The Paramount in Huntington, Pearl Concert Theater in Las Vegas, and the Grove of Anaheim — the kind of venues where you can actually hear a guitar string scrape.
Support on every date comes from Buffalo, NY singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Perdz, a rising alt-rock voice on Big Machine Rock whose debut album “Can’t Cry” arrives August 14. Raised on his grandparents’ family farm and citing Chris Cornell, John Frusciante, and Kurt Cobain as touchstones, Perdz brings a grit-and-melody sensibility that should pair beautifully with an unplugged setting.
For Daughtry, “20 Years Unplugged” is less a victory lap than a recalibration. Songs that soundtracked rock radio milestones and arena singalongs — from the earliest hits through the band’s heavier recent chapter — will be pulled apart and rebuilt in acoustic form. Expect the weight of a lyric, the quiet before a chorus, and Chris Daughtry’s unmistakable voice to do the heavy lifting.
The announcement lands on the heels of “SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM (DELUXE),” the full edition of the band’s two-part Big Machine Rock project, which bundles both installments with additional live recordings. Tracks like “ARTIFICIAL,” “PIECES,” “THE BOTTOM,” and “ANTIDOTE” have marked some of the band’s most emotionally direct work to date — and hearing them stripped down should be a whole new experience.
