Milwaukee Music Cartel Returns With “Live By The Track Die By The Track Vol. 2”
The Milwaukee Music Cartel is back, and if you thought their debut was just a flex, Vol. 2 is here to remind you these guys don’t miss.
Assembled by veteran Milwaukee producer Godxilla — the same name behind boards for Coo Coo Cal, Baby Drew, AT5, and even KRS-One — the Milwaukee Music Cartel (MMC) is an 8-member collective that plays by its own rules. Godxilla, Elete Trax, DSCRIBEmusic, OneWay Go Hard, Mystik Musik, OA Beatz, Jake Linder, and Stikman all pull double duty as producers and songwriters, trading verses over each other’s beats. It’s a producer’s producer group: at least four beat battle champions, four DJs, two recording engineers, and five seasoned performers all under one roof. Voltron-style hip hop, essentially.
Their new album, “Live By The Track Die By The Track Vol. 2,” leans into that chemistry. Where a lot of collective projects feel like a compilation stapled together, MMC sounds like a unit — melodic, locked-in, and comfortable enough with each other to let the songs breathe. You can hear the years of studio time and beat battle bruises baked into every track.
The clearest proof of concept so far is the album’s second single and video, “The F You Thought It Was,” which is picking up real momentum on socials. The beat knocks, the bars trade off with the kind of ease you only get from producers who actually rap — and the visual matches the energy. If you need one entry point into what MMC is doing on Vol. 2, start here.
