Kenny Whitmire Drops Debut EP “Fool In A King Size Bed” — A Neo-Traditional Country Statement
Kenny Whitmire is done teasing. The Georgia-born, Nashville-based traditionalist has officially unveiled his debut EP, Fool In A King Size Bed, out now via MCA — and it is exactly the kind of record the country music conversation has been quietly begging for.
Seven songs deep, the project plays like a slow drive home after last call: pensive, aching, and completely unafraid to sit inside the feeling. Billboard has already dubbed Whitmire “one of country music’s most compelling, neo-traditional new vocalists,” while Holler pegged him as “a country traditionalist who’s tearing up the rule book as he reads from it.” Spend five minutes with the EP and both takes make perfect sense.

Whitmire built the runway to this release with a monthly drumbeat of singles — January’s “Me Being Me,” February’s viral breakthrough “I Gave Her The Moon,” March’s weeping ballad “You’re Getting Colder,” April’s “Thought Twice About Loving You,” and May’s “One Foot In The Grave.” Together with the title track and “Ain’t Hard Livin’,” they form a record that, as All Country News put it, “tells a story, breaks a heart, and lingers like last call neon.”
“I’m beyond excited to be releasing my debut EP, Fool In A King Size Bed,” Whitmire shared. “Releasing music like this is something I’ve always dreamed of. I can’t wait for y’all to get to know me and hear what I have to say as an artist.”

The release lands on the heels of one of the more unexpected pairings of the year. On Tuesday night, Whitmire joined GRAMMY-nominated pop star Charlie Puth onstage at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheatre for a duet-style rendition of “I Gave Her The Moon,” the viral hit that first turned casual scrollers into card-carrying fans. Backstage, Whitmire was spotted trading stories with Puth, HARDY, Vince Gill, and Lee Ann Womack — a room that says as much about his trajectory as any headline.
Sitting comfortably in the same lane as Zach Top, Jake Worthington, and Randall King, Whitmire is spending the rest of 2026 out on the road, supporting Billy Currington and Tracy Lawrence, with festival stops at Rock The Country Ocala and Rock The Country Hamburg.

If Fool In A King Size Bed is any indication, Whitmire isn’t chasing a trend — he’s quietly reminding everyone what country music sounded like before it forgot. Cue it up, pour something brown, and let the neon do the rest.
