Jacob Hackworth isn’t asking his ex to leave — he’s holding the door open and inviting them to “Help Yourself.” The Nashville-based singer-songwriter just dropped his sharpest goodbye yet, a snarky, groove-heavy send-off that officially closes the chapter opened by his record-breaking radio single “What Took You So Long.” Released via MCA/Goat Island Sound, “Help Yourself” is the kind of breakup track that doesn’t cry into a whiskey glass — it side-eyes the person across the bar and orders another round for itself.

Where “What Took You So Long” wallowed in the confusion and heartbreak of a whirlwind romance gone sideways, “Help Yourself” is Hackworth on the other side of the healing curve. The wounds have scarred over, the roles have flipped, and this time he’s the one delivering the goodbye — with just enough sarcasm to sting and enough melody to stick in your head for a week. Written by Hackworth alongside Gabe Foust, Travis Smith and Sean Wave, and produced by Jacob Durett, the track wraps unapologetic lyrics in the kind of contemporary Country hook that today’s fans can’t get enough of.

“Even though this one has a few little toxic jabs thrown in there, underneath it’s written from a healthy place where you’ve finally gotten enough distance from a situation to see it clearly and realize that the absolute best thing you can do is just speak your peace and move on,” Hackworth shared. “We got to play this one live a few times last week and it’s a fun one because it’s so high energy and you can see people really vibing to it.”

The timing couldn’t be better. “What Took You So Long” made history in April by breaking the record for the most first-week radio adds ever for a new artist, and it’s still climbing the Top 45. Both songs were pulled from the same real-life breakup that pushed Hackworth from small-town West Plains, MO to Nashville full-time back in 2019 — a decision that has since led to a publishing deal, roughly 60 major-label cuts as a songwriter (including Bailey Zimmerman’s “Rock and a Hard Place,” Corey Kent’s “This Heart,” cuts on Jelly Roll’s GRAMMY-winning Beautifully Broken, Morgan Wallen’s “Jack and Jill,” and multiple Tucker Wetmore hits), and more than a billion streams in 2025 alone.

Fresh off his CMA Fest debut at the Reverb x Good Molecules Plaza, Hackworth is about to hit the road for his third run with ACM New Male Artist of the Year Tucker Wetmore. The tour stretches through the fall and includes a stop at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in October — a fitting venue for an artist whose stock is rising this fast.
