AUDIO: Genesis Renji – “Gelo”
Milwaukee’s own Genesis Renji continues to expand his sonic universe with “Gelo,” a new two-track single featuring fellow artist See.Francis. Dropping July 21st, this release finds the Emmy-nominated recording artist and sound designer leaning into a groove-heavy, mid-tempo pocket that feels equally at home in late-night headphones or a packed club.
The title track “Gelo” rides a bouncy, danceable rhythm with understated energy—the kind of track that doesn’t need to scream for your attention because it already knows it has it. The production is spacious yet warm, threading acoustic textures through a bed of digital haze. There’s an intimacy here that recalls the more introspective corners of Renji’s catalog, but with enough pulse to keep your head nodding.
Genesis Renji has been steadily building his reputation as one of the most versatile creative forces in Milwaukee hip hop. Running his own label House Of Renji alongside Standard 79 Recordings, he’s crafted a career that spans not just music releases but audio engineering and sound design work that’s earned him industry recognition. From his 2021 album E.D.E.N. to last year’s IS IT TOO MUCH EP, Renji has consistently delivered projects that refuse to sit still in a single lane.
Pairing up with See.Francis for this release adds another dimension to the mix. The collaboration feels natural—two artists comfortable enough in their own styles to let the track breathe without overcrowding it.
“Gelo” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
