Fallweather Sign to Papercut Recordings, Announce Debut Album ‘Because You Were There’ and Share Cathartic New Single “Mourn”

Melbourne post-hardcore quartet Fallweather are stepping into a new chapter, and they’re doing it with the kind of emotional weight that hits like a brick through a stained-glass window. The band has officially signed with Papercut Recordings and announced their long-awaited debut album, ‘Because You Were There,’ set for release on Wednesday, August 19.

To mark the announcement, Fallweather have shared their new single “Mourn” alongside an official music video that lands somewhere between confessional and cathartic. It’s the kind of track that doesn’t just play — it looms.

Vocalist Cullen Forbes opened up about the deeply personal inspiration behind the song, saying: “After the last few years of chronic illnesses and health struggles, ‘Mourn’ is about how I’ve forgotten how I used to feel before, and I’m tired of feeling like I’m falling apart.”

That kind of unfiltered honesty runs through the DNA of Fallweather’s writing, and if “Mourn” is any indication of what ‘Because You Were There’ is going to deliver in full, the Aussie four-piece are about to plant a flag on the international post-hardcore map.

Fallweather aren’t sitting still with the news, either. The band is hitting the road across Australia this June alongside Hail The Sun and Reliqa — a run that pretty much guarantees sweat-drenched walls and blown-out throats from Brisbane to Perth.

Upcoming Tour Dates with Hail The Sun & Reliqa:

Thu June 25 – Brisbane @ Crowbar
Fri June 26 – Sydney @ Crowbar
Sat June 27 – Melbourne @ Howler
Sun June 28 – Adelaide @ Lion Arts Factory
Tue June 30 – Perth @ Rosemount Hotel

‘Because You Were There’ is available for pre-order now, and “Mourn” is streaming on all platforms. If you like your post-hardcore with real stakes and no filter, this is one to keep on your radar — and one to catch live before rooms this size are a thing of the past.
