Audrey Horne Return With New Album ‘Achilles’ Out September 4 — Watch “Insanity” Video Now

Norway’s most reliably swaggering hard rock export is back. Audrey Horne have officially announced their eighth studio album, Achilles, arriving September 4 via Napalm Records — and if the first single is anything to go by, they’ve lost none of the twin-guitar bravado that made them a festival mainstay in the first place.

Lead single “Insanity” is a classic Audrey Horne rip: charging tempo, harmonized guitar leads, an arena-ready chorus, and a mid-section that struts more than it noodles. The band notes the lyrics were inspired by Iron Maiden’s “Hallowed Be Thy Name,” reimagining what might have happened before the events of that song — a nerdy detail that will absolutely delight the denim-vest demographic. The accompanying music video matches the track’s unhinged spirit.

Across eleven tracks, Achilles promises the full Audrey Horne spectrum — from the hard-charging title track (which uses its contrast-heavy arrangement to comment on today’s polarized world), to the Thin Lizzy-indebted groove of “God Damn Beautiful” (with bassist Espen Lien stepping up to lead vocals), to the melodic closer “New Star Falling.” Expect the same blend of ’70s and ’80s influences that earned prior records Blackout (2018) and Devil’s Bell (2022) international acclaim, plus a Spellemannprisen (Norway’s Grammy equivalent) for their debut.

The lineup remains stacked: vocalist Toschie, guitarists Arve “Ice Dale” Isdal (also of Enslaved) and Thomas Tofthagen, bassist Espen Lien, and drummer Kjetil Greve. These are the same folks who’ve shared stages with AC/DC, Mötley Crüe, Papa Roach, and Backyard Babies — so yes, they know how to fill a room.
